Ormond Plantation
The oldest restored plantation home in Mississippi valley, a rare example of the French West Indies building style. Flanked by two “garçonnières,” the home was built as an indigo and sugar plantation. With a colorful guest line-up including ghosts, French and Spanish dignitaries, and soldiers on the way to the Battle of New Orleans, the home suffered a siege during the Civil War and near destruction during a time of disrepair. Today the home is beautifully restored and features a Bed and Breakfast within the home furnished with period antiques and is available for private weddings and social functions. Just 30 minutes from New Orleans.
